REPORTS ON INDIAN DEMAND SUPPLY SCENARIO
FOR STYRENE MONOMER & METHANOL
We have now released reports on Indian demand supply scenario for styrene monomer, and Methanol which are updated upto 25th July 2010. The reports have been prepared based on extensive desk research and primary survey in India.
Styrene Monomer
Indian demand for styrene monomer is likely to increase at the rate of 7% to 8% per annum till 2015. As there is no production of styrene monomer in India at present and there is no likelihood of India creating adequate capacity for styrene monomer production due to feed stock constraints, Indian need for styrene monomer have to be met increasingly by imports in the coming years.
Import of styrene monomer in India-during the period - April 2003 to December 2009

Import during the period April 2009 to December 2009 - 339284 metric tonnes
The likely import of styrene monomer in India by 2015 would be 0.5 million metric tonnes per annum.
Methanol
Indian demand for methanol is likely to increase at the rate of 7% to 8% per annum till 2015. As there is no likelihood of India creating adequate capacity for methanol production due to feed stock constraints, Indian need for methanol have to be met increasingly by imports in the coming years.
Import of methanol in India : Apr 2004 - Mar 2009

Import during the period April 2009 to December 2009 - 610596 metric tonnes
The likely import of methanol in India by 2015 would be 1.4 million metric tonnes per annum.
Under the circumstances, Indian market represents an excellent opportunity for the international producers and trading houses of styrene monomer and methanol.
